Mapping markers of distance and existence in immigrant literature of New York City.

mapping the shared existence and experience of immigrants in new york city

Maps of New York City trace the streets and avenues, but fail to mention the individuals that move along them.

The immigrant literature of New York City offers readers an alternative perspective of place. Individual narratives come together, voicing the existence of immigrant communities and acknowledging the shared experience of distance.

This project strives to develop a series of collective, interactive maps that not only recognize the immigrant experience of New York City but create a platform upon which immigrant narratives can be voiced and heard.
